Job Description
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Summary:
The Clinical Trainer will be a valuable addition to the Harmless team, bridging the gap between clinical expertise and training delivery. This role focuses on enhancing the quality and efficiency of specialized clinical courses, induction programs, and ongoing professional development initiatives, both internally and externally. By leveraging their clinical knowledge and training skills, the Clinical Trainer will empower staff to deliver exceptional, evidence-based interventions and contribute to Harmless' commitment to clinical excellence and its establishment as a leading centre of excellence in suicide prevention interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Training Needs Analysis & Strategy:
- Work with the senior leadership team and service managers to conduct thorough training needs analyses to identify knowledge and skill gaps within the organisation and among external partners.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Academy’s training strategy, aligning with organisational goals and sector best practices.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of current research and emerging trends in suicide prevention interventions, translating them into relevant training content.
2. Curriculum Development & Delivery:
- Collaborative Design: Partner with the training team and clinical experts to design, develop, and refine specialized clinical courses, including the flagship Clinical Course and other in-house programs.
- Content Creation: Develop engaging, impactful, and up-to-date training materials, including presentations, handouts, e-learning modules, and practical exercises, incorporating the latest research, best practices, and real-world clinical insights.
- Dynamic Delivery: Deliver dynamic and interactive training sessions using a variety of instructional methods (e.g., lectures, workshops, simulations, role-playing), ensuring active participation, effective knowledge transfer, and practical skill development.
- Facilitation & Assessment: Facilitate internal clinical qualification programs, including assessment and certification processes, ensuring consistency and fairness, and promoting professional recognition and growth.
- Induction Enhancement: Streamline and enhance the induction process for new clinical staff, equipping them with the essential knowledge, skills, and organisational understanding to excel in their roles.
3. External Clinical Training & Revenue Generation:
- Program Development: Contribute to the development and delivery of external, clinically informed programs like "Page to Practice," ensuring their alignment with best practices and generating revenue for the Academy’s sustainability.
- External Representation: Represent Harmless at external events and conferences, promoting the Academy's clinical training programs and expertise.
- Partnership Building: Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including partner organisations and clinical professionals, to expand the reach and impact of Harmless' training.
6. Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement:
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of training activities and participant progress.
- Stay abreast of changes in legislation, regulations, and best practices related to clinical training and suicide prevention.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance processes for clinical training.
7. Internal Learning & Knowledge Sharing:
- Lead on elements of the clinical induction for all clinical staff during the probation period
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing within Harmless.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of a clinical learning resource library.
- Provide mentorship and support to clinical staff, promoting their professional development.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Experience:
- Clinical Expertise:
- A relevant clinical qualification (e.g., nursing, social work, counselling, psychology) is preferred, but candidates with extensive clinical experience and a strong understanding of evidence-based interventions will also be considered. (Essential)
- Demonstrated expertise in suicide prevention, self-harm intervention, crisis management, and stabilization techniques. (Essential)
- Experience providing mentorship to others. (Essential)
- Training & Development Skills:
- Proven experience in designing, developing, and delivering training programs to adult learners. (Essential)
- Excellent facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to create engaging and interactive learning experiences. (Essential)
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design. (Desirable)
